The old rules stated one final cut was allowed after an opponent shuffles your library.

This line is no longer present in the new rules. Is the final cut still allowed?

 

 

No. We have purposely removed that final cut, after careful consideration of many factors and a fair amount of discussion.

 

There has been some question about this decision already; some expressed concern that we've removed a player's best opportunity to prevent their opponents from manipulating their library. That's not entirely true; your best opp to prevent that is "Judge! he was doing funny stuff when he shuffled my deck!!"

 

You are responsible for randomizing your deck before you hand it to your opponent. Your opponent is also responsible for further randomization. If both meet their responsibilities, then the final cut is pointless. If either fail in their responsibilities, get a judge involved.

 

One of the facts we considered, as Judge Manager John Carter states it: The research shows that allowing the dealer to have final touch on the deck introduces more cheating than it prevents. This is true in all card games.

Из этого, кстати, может получиться неплохой инструмент для получения преимущества неигровыми методами: "Судья! Мой оппонент подснял свою колоду после того, как я её замешал!" Что-то мне подсказывает, что из-за незнания большинством игроков всех новых правил такие ситуации будут происходить достаточно часто. Может быть имеет смысл перед началом турнира тезисно напомнить всем игрокам об основных изменениях?

4.5. Tournament Error — Failure to Follow Official Announcements

Definition

This infraction is committed by a player who fails to follow an instruction given to a broad audience he or she is included in. Most often these are registration instructions, safety instructions, or venue rules. Instructions given directly to an individual and not followed are penalized as Unsporting Conduct — Major.

 

Examples

A. A player forgets to list her name or DCI# on a decklist following such an announcement made during the tournament registration period.

B. A player smokes in a venue where signage indicates such is forbidden.

C. A player fails to leave an area of the venue that a general announcement has asked all players to leave.

 

Philosophy

Players are required to be attentive and follow the instructions of tournament officials for the efficiency of the tournament and safety of all.

1.4. REPEAT OFFENSES

The penalty for the first offense is listed in the "Penalty" portion of each infraction. For a repeat offense at Competitive and Professional RELs, upgrade the penalty to the next level on the following upgrade path unless instructed otherwise in the penalty procedure:

 

Caution — Warning — Game Loss — Match Loss — Disqualification

 

Penalties continue to be upgraded with further offenses. If the Head Judge upgrades or downgrades a penalty, it should be considered as the original penalty for further upgrades. Repeat offenses at Regular events may be upgraded at the Head Judge’s discretion. A Match Point penalty is never used for repeat offenses. If a Match Point penalty is issued and the offense is repeated, it is upgraded to a Match Loss.

 

Game Play Errors have their own separate path that should be used for repeat offenses of infractions in that section.
